Nature slide competitions are scored separately from the Color Slide Competitions (general & assignment).

Two slides may be entered in each competition.

Slides must be 35mm in cardboard, plastic, or glass mounts of 2 x 2 inches.

Slides must be marked with title, maker's name, and a large dot on the lower left corner of the slide (as held up to a light for viewing).

Slides must be turned in by 7:30 PM.

There are several levels of Nature competition classes based on experience level: Beginner, Advanced, Salon, Star, & Galaxy.

Slides are returned at the next competition unless held for inter-club competitions.

All slides entered in nature competitions must meet PSA requirements defining acceptable nature slides. No additional restrictions apply to Nature competitions.

The "PSA requirements" referred to, are a list of rules of the Photographic Society of America. They define acceptability of Nature slides and prints. In general, the rules state that the "hand of man" should not be evident (i.e. no fence posts or roads, etc.), and that the following are not permitted: cultivated plants, domestic animals, mounted specimens, museum displays, nor any kind of manipulative techniques which alter the truth of the photographic statement.
