PRINT COMPETITIONS:

Print competitions are divided into two divisions:

1.  Color Prints - any color image printed by the photographer using any available process or commercially printed; hand colored images; digital prints including manipulation.

MCCC Sub-categories

By maker- Color (do-it-yourself) Prints - any color image printed by the photographer using any available process; hand colored images; digital prints including manipulation.

Commercial (lab processed) Prints - printed by a commercial lab from the members slide, negative, or file.

MCCC competitions for 2005-6 will distinguish between "By Maker" and "Commercial".  GDCCC no longer makes this distinction.  If your prints are entered in GDCCC competitions, the GDCCC rules will prevail.

2.  Monochrome (do-it-yourself) Prints - printed by the photographer using any available process; prints that are B&W with shades of gray and up to 1 additional color; prints that are "toned" (1 color) with up to one additional color; hand colored with only 1 color; digital prints including manipulation.

All divisions include digital images. A total of 4 prints may be entered in each of the three divisions. The four may be split 2/2 (general/assignment) or 3/1 (general/assignment). Any size image up to 16x20 inches is acceptable. All prints must be mounted on 16 x20 inch mount boards. All prints must be on photographic paper.

The back of the mount board should contain the title at the top middle. A Motor City Camera Club sticker (obtained from the Print Director) must be placed on the upper left--hand corner containing the following information:

Assignment or General
Color, B&W, or Commercial
Size of print: 8x10, 11x14,or 16x20
Maker's name
Beginner or Advanced

Unlike slides, there are no restrictions on entering Nature subjects in General print competitions. They may also be entered in Assignment print competitions if they meet the requirements of the assignment.

After judging and awarding, the prints are then eligible for further competitions in the GDCCC monthly inter-club competitions. In this case the print director may hold prints from club competitions for future use in these council competitions.

All prints must be submitted for competition by 7:45 the evening of the competition.
